The Sun and the Moon

Night Sky

Long ago, the Sun and the Moon lived in the sky. The Sun was big and bright. The Moon was small and white.

The Sun worked in the day. It made the sky blue and warm. Plants grew. People played outside.

The Moon worked at night. It made the sky dark and cool. Stars came out. People went to sleep.

One day, the Sun felt sad. “I never see the stars,” said the Sun.

The Moon felt sad too. “I never feel warm,” said the Moon.

A boy named Zephyr looked up at the sky. He could see the Sun going down and the Moon coming up.

“Hello, Sun! Hello, Moon!” called Zephyr. “Why do you look sad?”

The Sun said, “I want to see stars.”

The Moon said, “I want to feel warm.”

Zephyr had an idea. “You can meet at sunset and sunrise!”

The next day, the Sun stayed a little longer. The Moon came a little early. They met in the sky.

The Sun saw stars begin to shine. The Moon felt the warm light.

They were happy. And now, every day, the Sun and Moon meet two times.

Zephyr smiles when he sees them together in the sky.
