A Day at the Park

Park Friends

The sun is bright today. I go to the park near my home. The grass is green and the sky is blue. I see many people at the park. Some walk dogs. Some sit on benches. Some read books.

I bring my ball to play. I see a boy who looks sad. He sits alone. I walk to him and say, “Hi! Do you want to play ball with me?”

The boy smiles. “Yes, I do!” he says. His name is Oliver. We throw the ball back and forth. We laugh and run. Soon, more kids come to play with us. We make a big circle and throw the ball to each other.

Oliver says, “I am new here. I did not have friends.” I tell him, “Now you have friends here.” We all play until our parents call us. Oliver and I say we will meet at the park again. I am happy I made a new friend today.

Ice Cream Time

It gets hot as we play. My face is red and I feel very warm. Oliver points to a small shop at the side of the park. “They sell ice cream there,” he says.

We walk to the ice cream shop. There are many types of ice cream. I get chocolate. Oliver gets vanilla. We sit on a bench in the shade of a big tree to eat our ice cream.

A small dog runs to us. It looks at our ice cream with big eyes. The dog’s owner comes and says sorry. We pet the dog and it wags its tail.

We see a bird’s nest in the tree above us. Baby birds make noise. The mother bird brings food to them. Oliver and I watch them for a long time.

Our ice cream is cold and sweet. It feels good on this hot day. When we finish, we wash our hands at the water tap. The cool water feels nice.

Going Home

The sun starts to go down. The sky turns pink and orange. It is time to go home. Oliver and I walk to find our parents. My mom waits by the park gate.

“Did you have fun?” she asks. I tell her about Oliver and our games. I tell her about the ice cream and the dog and the birds. She smiles.

Oliver’s dad comes. Oliver says, “Can we come back tomorrow?” His dad says yes. I ask my mom the same thing. She also says yes.

I wave to Oliver as we leave. “See you tomorrow!” I call. He waves back with a big smile.

On the way home, I think about my day. I made a new friend. I played fun games. I ate good ice cream. I saw cute animals. It was a good day at the park.

I can’t wait to go back.
