A Cup of Milk

Farm Day

Little Orla lived in a small house by a farm. She had never seen a cow up close before.

One day, Orla’s mother said, “We need milk. Let’s go to the farm today.”

Orla was very happy. She put on her red shoes and blue hat. The sun was bright in the sky.

At the farm, they met Mr. Pike. He had a big smile and many animals.

“Would you like to see where milk comes from?” asked Mr. Pike.

Orla nodded. Yes, she wanted to know!

Mr. Pike took them to see a big cow. The cow was black and white.

“This is Daisy,” said Mr. Pike. “She gives us milk every day.”

Orla looked at Daisy with big eyes. Daisy looked back and made a sound: “Moo!”

Mr. Pike showed Orla how to get milk from Daisy. The milk went into a bucket.

Then, Mr. Pike gave Orla a cup of fresh milk. It was warm and white.

“Thank you, Daisy,” said Orla. The milk tasted sweet and good.

On the way home, Orla told her mother, “Now I know where milk comes from. It comes from Daisy!”

Orla’s mother smiled. It was a good farm day.
